ROYAL CITY - They played fine second and third games, but the Royal High School girls fell to Burbank, 25-6, 25-22, 31-29, in South Central 1A Conference volleyball last week.

"We got off to a slow start but picked it up in the second and third games," coach Paul Olsufka said. "We had opportunities to send the match into another game but could not find a way to get it done."

Olsufka believes his girls can still play their way to the district tournament, but he realizes the opportunities are dwindling. The end of the regular season is fast approaching.

"Every match is critical at this point," he said.

Olsufka noted Tonya Iverson had one of her best matches of the year at the net. She scored five kills and came up with two blocks.

Madison Stakkeland went 6-6 serving and made 13 digs. Moriah Christensen was 8-9 serving, made 11 digs and had five kills.

Lindsey Christensen scored an ace, made 14 digs and had seven kills. Ashlyn Allred was 13-14 serving, scored three aces and made eight digs.

Tahlia Ledezma had 9-10 serving and 15 assists. Kayla Smith was 10-10 serving with one ace and two blocks.
