Jerry Peterson, 64

Jerry Ray Peterson, 64, of Spirit Lake, passed on to the Lord on Oct. 23, 2011, in Kootenai Medical Center.

He was born in Adair, Iowa, on Nov. 18, 1946. Joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served four years. After leaving the U.S. Navy he traveled the U.S. and was visting his aunt and uncle in Greeley, Colo., where he met and married his wife, Sandy. He was a loving and loyal husband for 42 years. They moved to Adair for four years and moved back to Greeley for eight years and helped his mother after she suffered a stroke. When Sandy's parents moved to Idaho he decided he liked the looks of the area and moved to Spirit Lake in 1982. Was employed with Coeur d'Alene Tractor in July of that year and worked there in the small engine shop to present day.

He loved fishing, gardening, NASCAR, his dogs and traveling with his family. Loved to go to the Red Woods in California and Wyoming.

He was survived by his wife Sandy, two daughters, April Nall and husband Dave, of Post Falls, and Serena Peterson Smith and husband Nate, from Bremmerton Wash., six grandchildren and nieces and nephews and his brother Paul Peterson, in Adair, Iowa. Proceeded in death by his father Glen and mother Jeannie.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday 27, 2011, at Yates Funeral Home, at the CDA Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Jerry wished that no flowers be sent because he loved them when he could see them. If you would like, he wanted you to send a donation to Kootenai Humane Society, a food bank or to the Union Gospel Mission in Spokane.

The family thanks Kootenai Medical Center for all they tried to do for Jerry and making him as comfortable as possible.
