MOSES LAKE - A man who authorities believe shot and killed a burglar just outside of Moses Lake, has been arrested on charges not related to the incident.

According to Grant County Sheriff's Deputy Dave Ponozzo, Timothy Mandelas faces two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm. He is a convicted felon, Ponozzo said.

In addition, Mandelas, 44, faces a charge of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver. He has a legitimate medical marijuana card, Ponozzo said, but he had more than two pounds of marijuana, which is more than the medical marijuana limit.

Mandelas came to the attention of authorities Oct. 16 when a suspected burglar was shot and killed at Mandelas's residence. The shooting victim died at a Spokane hospital.

The attempted burglary occurred at around 9 p.m. at 4301 Ottmar Road NE. Two suspected burglars fled the scene after the shooting, and authorities were still seeking them on Oct. 20.

Authorities believe the three suspected burglars went to Mandelas' residence to steal marijuana.

Mandelas has been cooperative with authorities regarding the shooting. But, as of Oct. 20, he has not been charged in that matter.

According to authorities, Mandelas's criminal history includes arrests for forgery, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and fourth degree assault/domestic violence.
