GEORGE - Northern Departure, which was a big hit at the annual Bluegrass Festival, will be back here on Saturday, Nov. 12 for a performance at the George Community Hall.

"These guys nearly brought the house down at our September Bluegrass Festival," said George Community Hall events director Debby Kooy. "They're very, very young and skilled. I'd guess they're all under 25."

Northern Departure employs the time-honored tools of Bluegrass - guitar, upright bass, banjo, mandolin and fiddle. Austin McGregor plays banjo, Derek Gray plays bass, Chris Luquette plays guitar and Nick Dumas plays fiddle, mandolin and guitar.

"They feature flawless picking, earnest harmonies and an unsullied Northwest perspective," Kooy said. "These old souls are igniting sparks in the best Bluegrass tradition."

Northern Departure was formed in 2008. It is highly requested on the Northwest music scene. It has performed at the Moore and Paramount Theaters in Seattle. It has performed in Nashville.

"This show is bound to leave you exhausted and energized," Kooy said.
