U.S. Geological Survey scientist Dan Fagre will give a talk on "Changes in the Alpine of Glacier National Park - a Focus on Snow and Vegetation" at the Montana House in Apgar on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 4 p.m. The talk is free and open to the public, but reservations for a seat are required by calling 888-5393.

A bill requiring the state to electronically verify that all foreign nationals are in the U.S. legally before issuing a Montana driver’s license or ID card was signed into law by Gov. Brian Schweitzer on April 18.

Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
