Aleck Hanson, 88

Aleck Hanson, 88, of Pinehurst, formerly of Priest River, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011, in Kellogg.
Aleck was born March 24, 1923 in Priest River the son of John and Emma (Johanson) Hanson. Aleck was raised and attended school in Priest River. Aleck left school after the 8th grade and enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1947. After the war he returned to Priest River for a short time later moving to Wallace, where he worked at Star Mine as a motorman. In later years he worked at Bunker Hill where he worked for 33 years retiring in 1981.
Aleck was a lifelong member of the Coeur d'Alene Eagles No. 486 as well as a member of the Bunker Hill 20 year club and the Lutheran Church. He enjoyed playing Pinochle, dancing and watching sports. Although he had been gone from Priest River for many years, he always loved Priest River.
Aleck is survived by his children; Diana (Ronnie) Sharp, of Pinehurst, Vickie Lee (Buck) Young, of Orofino, Cheryl Hanson, of Coeur d'Alene, and David Hanson, of Wallace; two brothers, Paul Hanson, of Sandpoint, and Wally Hanson, of Seattle, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at 1 p.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery, in Priest River. Memorial contributions may be made in Aleck's name to the Shriner's Children's Hospital.
