FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Wenatchee Wild improved to 4-0 on its 6-game Alaskan road trip Saturday by shutting out the Fairbanks Ice Dogs at the Big Dipper Ice Arena, 3-0. The win gave the Wild a sweep over the Dogs and its second sweep in as many series.

Ben Carey (Centennial, Colo.) gave the Wild the lead 5:14 into the contest on his 10th goal of the season. During the first power play of the evening, Carey scored from the bottom of the near faceoff circle on a one-timer from Shawn Pauly (Bellingham, Wash.), whose pass originated from behind the goal line.

Wenatchee upped its lead to 2-0 with 6:11 remaining before the first intermission when Ansel Duesenberg (Centennial, Colo.) put back a rebound off of Even Schmidbauer's (Surrey, British Columbia) wrap-around attempt.

The second period went scoreless before Jerad Tafoya (Highland Ranch, Colo.) gave the Wild an extra insurance goal 2:23 into the final frame. During a man-advantage, Tafoya tapped in the Wild's third goal of the contest from the back door after receiving a cross-ice pass from Max McHugh (Edgewood, Wash.). Sam Johnson (Dallas, Texas) picked up the second assist.

Seven Wild players recorded a point in the win, and netminder Greg Lewis (Mars, Pa.) turned aside all 22 shots he faced to earn his second straight shutout in as many starts.

Steve Perry made 20 saves on 23 shots for the Dogs. Wenatchee scored two power-play goals on six tries while Fairbanks went 0-for-4.

The Wild (8-4-2) have five days before playing a 2-game rematch against the Alaska Avalanche next weekend (Nov. 4-5). Both games will begin at 8:30 p.m. (PDT).
