MATTAWA - The Wahluke Warriors were game, but they didn't have the fire power needed last week to defeat the Connell Eagle in volleyball.

The result was a 25-15, 25-10, 25-10 defeat.

"Connell is a great team," coach Rudi Christian said. "The girls played well as a team but were outplayed."

Mostly Wahluke played defense, and it was led by nine digs from Tanya Mendez and eight from Maripaz Olivarez.

The Warriors also dropped a contest to Riverview, 25-12, 25-18, 25-15.

Marleny Garcia led the Warriors with five kills and nine digs. Olivarez and Jessica Ledezma had 11 digs each, and Mendez had seven digs.

"Defensive game, not a lot of offense," Christian said. "But the girls played hard on every play."
