Nine year sentence for home invasion

EPHRATA - One of the men charged in a December 2010 home invasion is serving more than nine years in prison.
Timmy R. Riggins, 40, a transient, pleaded guilty to robbery in the first degree in Grant County Superior Court, according to court records.
A count of assault in the second degree was dropped for evidentiary reasons, Prosecutor Angus Lee stated.
Riggins has prior convictions for receiving stolen property, burglary, taking a vehicle without permission and assault in the third degree, according to court records. When combined with his present charges, Riggins faced a sentencing range of eight years and five months to 10 years and six months.
Grant County Superior Court Judge John Knodell followed the prosecutor's and defense attorney's recommendation, sentencing Riggins to nine years and 5.5 months in prison.
"Accordingly, the defendant pled as charged to robbery-one and to a deadly weapon enhancement. As part of the plea, we agreed to mid range, which is the presumed sentence after trial," Prosecutor Angus Lee stated.
Riggins and his son, Timothy R. R. Riggins, 22, reportedly went to a Road H Northeast residence in December. The victim was giving her two children a bath when Timothy Riggins knocked on the door, according to a Moses Lake police report. The victim was speaking on the phone with her husband as she went to answer the door.
The woman barely had the door open, when Timothy Riggins forced his way in, pushing her into a side room and pointed a gun at her face, according to the police report. He reportedly grabbed her phone, threw it against the wall, and asked where the money was.
The victim told Timothy Riggins she only had $15, and pleaded to let her and her children leave, according to the police report. While Timothy Riggins allegedly held the woman at gunpoint, Timmy Riggins entered the residence.
When Timmy Riggins started searching the residence, the victim reportedly told his son they could take whatever they wanted, and repeated her plea to let her and her children go. Timothy Riggins reportedly said no and to just stay on the ground.
After asking again, Timothy Riggins dragged her to the bedroom, according to the police report. As they were allegedly searching, they demanded money again, saying they knew the victim had been bailed out of jail. The victim had been in jail in September for a driving offense.
The two reportedly fled as police were arriving, with Timmy Riggins grabbing a guitar and amplifier as he ran out of the residence,
Timothy Riggins still faces a charge of robbery in the first degree.
