North Idaho College's Outdoor Pursuits is hosting the Adopt a Crag climbing crag cleanup beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 at Q'emiln Riverside Park in Post Falls.

Projects for the day include trash removal, erosion control, graffiti removal and trail cleaning. Volunteers will receive free food and giveaways from location recreational outfitters in the afternoon.

"What better way to give back to those who let us climb their walls," said Mike Willett of NIC's Outdoor Pursuits outdoor recreation program.

This event is part of Adopt a Crag Day, a nationwide day of natural resource stewardship and volunteerism. Adopt a Crag is organized nationally by Access Fund, a nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving the climbing environment.

Activities often include litter cleanups, visual impact mitigation, trail construction and restoration, erosion control and wildlife monitoring. This year, the Access Fund expects the Adopt a Crag program will conduct trail restoration projects and crag cleanups at more than 150 climbing areas around the country.
