Large Superior team defeats Arlee in the first game of the

season

SUPERIOR - Superior opened up a lot of eyes with their victory over Arlee last Friday night. The Warriors are certainly no slouches as they finished last year 4-4 and advanced to the playoffs in Class C, but the Bobcats have a lot going for them too.

Having just moved from Class B to C, the Bobcats trounced the Warriors 51-12 in the opening weekend of the season.

Superior went 7-3 and advanced to the playoffs last year in B, where they defeated Troy 22-12 in the first round.

Superior also saw huge numbers come out for their team this year, 36, meaning they're able to substitute a lot of players against teams to keep fresh legs moving. Running the no-huddle offense also keeps other teams on their back heels.

Against Arlee last Friday, Superior jumped out to a 20-0 lead in the first quarter. Warriors quarterback Christian Haynes answered back for Arlee with a one-yard run in the second quarter.

Later in the quarter, Haynes would be part of another touchdown by catching a 59-yard pass from Cody Sheridan for Arlee's second score.

Superior would extend the lead to 45-12 at halftime. They would score again in the third quarter before both teams went scoreless in the fourth. The Bobcats' Adam Kay caught three passes for 101 yards and then ran seven times for 77 yards and three touchdowns. Getting him the ball was quarterback Billy Smith, who went 10-for-11 with 213 yards and three touchdowns.

Zach Tameler rushed for 83 yards for Arlee in the game.

You’ll have to excuse me for stating the obvious, I’m assuming everyone in Polson already knows this but Neal Lewing is one heck of an actor. I was first able to see the Port Polson player as Judge Turpin in the production of Sweeney Todd last November.
