Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 13 years, 4 months AGO
Laura Collins passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011. She was born March 11, 1924, to John and Laura (Ulland) Nobs in Coeur d'Alene.
On Jan. 24, 1945, she married Oliver (Tex) Collins in Coeur d'Alene. They enjoyed living in Coeur d'Alene; it's where they chose to raise their two sons, Oliver (Perry) and Ron.
Laura enjoyed raising her boys, and helping her husband with his business, Tex Electric. She had a love for music, gardening and enjoying nature. In her later years they ran a shop at the Post Falls Flea Market. Laura had a love of antiques which was not surpassed by her love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She spent the last year of her life in Sandpoint to be close to her family. She made many friends at the Bridge Assisted Living and the Life Care Center. We want to thank both facilities for their love, care and support toward Laura.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tex; son Ron; brother Arthur and sisters Leoda, Esther and Helen.
She is survived by her son, Perry Collins; grandchildren O.P. Collins, Brent (Emily) Collins, Justin (Lizzy) Collins, Eli Collins and Ashley (Jordan) Kugle; great-grandchildren Micah, Abby and Nathaniel Collins, and Trinity Kugle; nephews Johnny Rounds and Kenny Rounds (who showed great love to her) and her beloved dog, Charlie. She will be deeply missed.
Memorial services and viewing will be held Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d'Alene. You may pay your last respects to Laura from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; the memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Internment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Athol.
