Lincoln County Commissioners are

expected in their meeting today to award a bid that will bring a

new dump truck to the county Road Department fleet.

Last week, Commissioners opened four

bids from three suppliers for the new truck that will be added to

the county’s fleet in Eureka.

“We’re going to get feedback from

(Eureka Road Superintendent) Tim White,” said Presiding

Commissioner Marianne Roose, who hails from Eureka.

Roose indicated Commissioners would be

able to get input from White and make a decision by the time they

convened today.

The bid specifications included truck

and chassis only.

Commissioner Tony Berget said Road

Department officials would accessorize the truck to meet demand

requirements specific to Eureka’s needs.

The first bid, for $86,473, was from

I-State Truck Center in Missoula. The bid was for a 2012

Freightliner.

Freedom Truck Center in Spokane, Wash.,

offered two bids, the first for a Freightliner for $101,458 and the

second bid was for a Western Star for $116,415. Both bids were for

2012 models.

The third bid was for $112,277 from

Montana Peterbilt in Missoula, and it, too, was for a 2012

model.

All bids included bid bonds.

Commissioners also heard a presentation

from Roger H. Cox, Ph.D., on county investments. Cox, from

Frenchtown, Mont., explained market volatility, most of which was

paying 1 to 3 percent, with most being around 2.5 percent.

Commissioners also were presented with

an invitation to attend a meeting Saturday at Cabinet View Rural

Fire Department to discuss jurisdictional differences between that

department and Libby Volunteer Fire Department.
