Local golfers lead Buffalo Hill tourney

Kalispell golfers Grahm Schmaltz and Kyle Mossfeldt made big moves Sunday at the annual Labor Day Golf Tournament at Buffalo Hill Golf Club.

Schmaltz, who was in a 6-way tie for 10th and Mossfeldt, who was in a 5-way tie for fifth after the first day, now share the lead.

Schmaltz shot a 68 on the Championship 18 while Mossfeldt shot a 69.

Both have a two-day total of 135.

Logan Lindholm is still in third place at 136 and Jeff Bishop of Vancouver, Wash. is fourth at 137.

Rounding out the top 10 are Kalispell golfers Larry Iverson and Justin Newton at 138, Doug Spark of Calgary at 140 and Mike Shearburn of Dallas, Texas, Brad Karns of Vancouver, Wash., and Ryan Buls and Ryan Porch, all at 141.

Kali Gordon of Black Diamond, Alberta, has tightened her grip on the women's play lead. She shot a 71 on the Cameron Nine on Sunday for a two-day total of 150.

Sarah Moody of Vancouver, B.C. is at 155. Former Kalispell champion Debbie Boreson is at 158 and defending champ Teigan Avery is at 159.

The 54-hole event ends today.
