Chamber luncheon
The Columbia Falls Area Chamber of Commerce will hold their membership meeting at the North Valley Hospital Community Room, 235 Nucleus Avenue, on Tuesday, Sept. 13, from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Guest speakers Adam Paugh and Florian Seeger will talk about their growing quadrocopter business. The company makes radio-controlled copters with cameras mounted to them for aerial photography. Cost is $!0 for lunch. Reservations are not required. For more information, call Carol at 892-2072.
Cub scouts
Columbia Falls Cub Scouts Pack 4101 will hold two recruitment nights for boys in grades 1-5 and children 6 or older on Thursday, Sept. 8, during the farmers market on Nucleus Avenue and Monday, Sept. 12, at Glacier Discovery Center.
Fermenting workshop
Pam Gerwe, of Purple Frog Gardens, will teach a "Fermenting Fun Workshop" at Discovery Square Center during the farmers market on Thursday, Sept. 8, from 5-6 p.m. Fermentation is a method of preserving food with salt. Attendees will take home a pint of salted cabbage that will become sauerkraut within a short amount of time. Cost is $10 and a minimum of 10 pre-registered folks. Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
