BURKE - A 60-year-old woman was rescued by passersby when her car crashed and overturned in a creek off Burke Road near Wallace Tuesday morning.
According to the Shoshone County Sheriff's Office, the driver was southbound when her 1997 Saturn left the road about 9 a.m. and rolled down into a section of Burke Canyon Creek about two-feet deep. The car's airbags deployed, and several men who were passing by came to her aid after the accident.
"I heard a noise, and I looked out of my window and it was almost like a fog had come in it was dense," said witness Mickey Lukesic, who lives directly across the street from the accident. "I saw someone who was helping her, and he yelled for me to call 9-1-1 and he was helping the lady in there."
The woman was transported to Shoshone Medical Center, where she was treated for "multiple, minor to moderate contusions and abrasions."
The four-door sedan fell roughly 10 feet from the roadway, collided with a large rock and rolled onto its top.
An investigation continues.
