ArtWalk in downtown Coeur d'Alene is tonight.

From 5-8 p.m., galleries host opening receptions with the opportunity to meet the artists, listen to live music and view newly arrived works of art, all within an easy strolling distance.

Featured Galleries will be Coeur d'Alene Galleries, The Coeur d'Alene Resort Lobby, Quicksilver Studios, 319 East Front Ave.

Other galleries involved are Summers Glass and Beads, Gallery Northwest, The Painter's Chair Gallery, Art on the Alley, Steven A. Scroggins Fine Art, Studio 107, The Art Spirit Gallery, Devin Galleries, Angel Gallery of Fine Art & Antiques and Northwest Artists.

Other art venues are The Coeur d'Alene Resort Plaza Shops and Human Rights Education Institute.

Art Spirit Gallery, 415 Sherman Ave., will feature 45 new oil paintings plus three large abstracts from the 1960s and one from the '70s by Spokane artist Mel McCuddin.

The opening reception is during ArtWalk, and there will be a painting demonstration by McCuddin starting at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Lake City Playhouse needs volunteers

The Lake City Playhouse wants you - to volunteer.

As a new season is ready to begin, volunteers are needed for numerous roles, including:

n Set construction - general construction experience required

n Sound or light board operation - previous theater experience preferred

n Costuming - sewing, costume reorganization and/or show night assistance. Problem solving ability and basic sewing skills preferred

n Props -Find and make props and, in some cases, maintain them through the show's run. Resourceful personalities preferred

n Office - Answer phones and/or work on varied projects. Required: reliable, trustworthy individuals with good communication skills
