Witherspoon hit by car while

jogging near L.A.

SANTA MONICA, Calif. - Actress Reese Witherspoon was struck by a car while jogging near Los Angeles on Wednesday morning and suffered minor injuries.

Santa Monica police Sgt. Richard Lewis says the Oscar-winning actress was hit by a car driven by an 84-year-old woman.

Witherspoon was running in an unmarked crosswalk in Santa Monica when the driver struck her at about 20 mph. The 35-year-old actress was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Lewis says the driver was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Witherspoon's portrayal of June Carter in the 2005 film "Walk the Line" won her a best-actress Oscar.

Kris Jenner to guest co-host

on 'The Talk'

NEW YORK - Soon, the Kardashian sisters are going to have a hard time keeping up with their mom, Kris Jenner.

Jenner appears on the E! reality show "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" and manages the careers of her daughters Khloe, Kourtney and Kim. She is also set to serve as a guest co-host on CBS' daytime show "The Talk" this fall.

"I hope a little bit of my own personality and the way that I am with my family is the same thing I am going to bring to 'The Talk' - as a mother and a wife and a businesswoman and a friend and all those things," Jenner said in an interview Wednesday night at a party for the Kardashian Kollection at Sears.

Jenner said it was natural for her three older daughters to launch a clothing line.

"I like to build things and to create something out of nothing and have it be successful. This is an example here tonight that Kim and I dreamed about," she said. "It is about setting goals."

Many potential Jackson case jurors dismissed

LOS ANGELES - More than half of the first panel of prospective jurors for the manslaughter trial of Michael Jackson's doctor have been dismissed after claiming it would be a hardship to serve on the five-week trial.

A larger than expected contingent of 182 prospects showed up for questioning Thursday. Court officials said that of those, 110 were dismissed and 72 remained to fill out lengthy questionnaires probing their views of the case in which Dr. Conrad Murray is charged with involuntary manslaughter in the pop star's death. Murray has pleaded not guilty in the case.

More remaining panelists could be dismissed later if they express strong views about Jackson, Murray or the case.
