COEUR d'ALENE - A mother and her young daughter told police a man in a black, full-sized van tried to entice the girl toward his vehicle as she was riding her bicycle between a nearby friend's place and her home.

The friend's place is on Winter Pines Court, which runs east and west and sits north of Best Avenue and east of 15th Street.

A Coeur d'Alene Police Department report said the friend couldn't come out and play, so the girl started back home, a few blocks away.

On the way home, she saw the black van, which was parked on the north side of Winter Pines Court.

The girl said the van was dull black with shiny black windows, in which she could see her reflection, the report said.

The girl said she rode past the van, but it started backing up and following her in reverse.

At one point, she looked back and "saw a white male arm waiving to her out the window," the report said. "She described the waive as one motioning her to come to the van."

She couldn't tell how many people were inside the van. She then reached another friend's house. She told her friend and then her mother.

The mother then searched for the van, but couldn't locate it, the report said. Police also weren't able to locate a van matching the description.
