Traverse, Mitchell lead Lake City past Lewiston

LEWISTON - Bobby Traverse ran for one touchdown and threw for another in the first half as the Lake City Timberwolves defeated the Lewiston Bengals 42-14 in a nonleague game at Bengal Field on Friday night.

Levi Hewitt opened the scoring in the first quarter on a 1-yard run for Lake City (2-1), which faces Rio Linda (Calif.) next Saturday at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow. Kaleb Mitchell also ran for a 5-yard touchdown in the second quarter and caught a 46-yard touchdown from Traverse in the third quarter to put the game away.

Brandon Johnson capped the scoring on a 5-yard run for Lake City.

Lewiston is 1-2.

The teams will play their 5A Inland Empire League game on Oct. 7 at Lake City.
