You almost have to look for this one - no huge signs, no big windows, no tables.

Yes, Orlando's Mexican Drive-Up is just that. It opened last week in the parking lot of Skate Plaza in the northwest corner of Highway 95 and Dalton Avenue. It formerly was in Hayden.

Owners Orlando and Jacqui Duran offer a standard Mexican menu starting with breakfast burritos and going through lunch and dinner with Mexican-Southwest-U.S.-style food ending with apple burritos.

"We take the fat out of our meats, add flavors and spices and bring it all back again slowly," Orlando said. "Right now it's all here, but we'll add catering and delivery." Originally from Colorado, he had been in Arizona before coming here with Jacqui, a North Idaho native, in 1992. They had Orlando's in Hayden from 1994 to 2007.

Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays. Phone 659-2684.

Food donations slice Silverwood prices

The donation of two cans of food for local food banks will slice a Silverwood ticket to half its price on Saturdays and Sundays through Sept. 25.

With the donation accepted at the front gate, this is Silverwood's fourth year for the Community Appreciation Weekends. About six tons of food have been donated each year. The tickets can be bought in advance online at www.silverwoodthemepark.com and brought with the donation cans to the park.

Operating since 1988, Silverwood, the largest theme and water park in the Northwest, has more than 65 rides and waterslides, shows and attractions on 216 acres.

Chef at Your Door offers meals

With a commercial kitchen as a commissary, Chef at Your Door offers meals for busy families, seniors and people who don't have the time or desire to prepare food.

"We offer freshly prepared homestyle meals," said owner Kari Turnbough. "I use all natural ingredients with no preservatives and nutritionally balanced. We meet dietary needs, vegetarian and low-carb requests."

The meals can be delivered in the local area and can be ordered for a week or month. A family meal is $20 for four servings with meat or $15 vegetarian and $6 and $4 for individuals. Options can include salads, desserts and home-made rolls.

Phone 704-4429 or email [email protected]. A website is under construction.

Here's this week's tidbits:

• Free performances of "The Guys" are at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. today in the Coeur d'Alene Library. In it a reporter helps a New York fire chief write eulogies for his men killed on Sept. 11. I remember 10 years ago today my neighbor Mike Wimmer met me at the newspaper tubes. Usually a chatty, friendly guy, he somberly just said, "Go turn on your TV." I did just in time to see the second tower get hit by the plane.

• Its/it's have two spellings. Its is simply possessive, such as "The dog rubs its fur." Notice you could substitute his for its - neither has an apostrophe. With "it's," the apostrophe takes the place of the second "i" in "it is" - It's time for the dog to rub its fur." Next week we'll hit there, their and they're.

• The Tubbs Hill cleanup is 9 a.m. to noon this Saturday. Volunteers receive free coffee and the satisfaction of helping.
