Dale Newton Barnes, 70, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, in Coeur d'Alene.
He was born on Jan. 6, 1941, in Wallace, the son of Fred and Clara (Klein) Barnes. His family moved to Coeur d'Alene later and he grew up in Coeur d'Alene and attended local schools including Borah grade school and Coeur d'Alene High School.
Dale owned and operated the Custom Engine Rebuilders machine shop in Coeur d'Alene, machining engine parts and was a master mechanic, working on a variety of automotive vehicles, retiring after 20 years in 1995.
His hobbies included camping, riding ATVs, and talking with friends and family.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Jean Barnes; son, Kent; daughters Cindy Barnes, and Dee Ann Barnes; three adopted children, Patricia, Hollee, and Michaela. He also is survived by his sister, Marilyn Kossky.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dale Jr.; and brother, Mike Anderson.
A reception will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at The First Presbyterian Church, Coeur d'Alene, in the Fireside Room.
