Canyon power outage scheduled

Flathead Electric Cooperative has scheduled a power outage for Wednesday, Sept. 21, from approximately 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. that will impact about 2,500 Co-op members.

The scheduled outage will affect homes and businesses along U.S. 2 in Hungry Horse, Martin City, Coram, West Glacier, Essex and other areas, as well as the area from Columbia Heights and Highway 206 to the South Fork of the Flathead River.

There will be two brief interruptions in service - one at 9 a.m. and one at 1 p.m. The scheduled outage is necessary to improve system capacity and reliability.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
