Cards conclude CSI tourney with two wins

TWIN FALLS - The North Idaho College volleyball team, ranked 20th in the NJCAA, knocked off 12th-ranked Barton (Kansas) 23-25, 25-14, 25-12, 25-18 in its first match on Day 2 of the Starr Corporation Invitational.
Yang Yang had 17 kills, seven blocks and two aces to lead NIC (11-6). Sierra Pancho added 42 assists, eight kills, four digs and three blocks.
"We are improving every game," NIC coach Kandice Kelly said. "Everybody is contributing to our wins."
NIC continued its winning ways in its second game of the day with a 25-18, 25-11, 25-13 sweep of Yavapai of Prescott, Ariz.
Yang led the way again with 18 kills, eight digs and four blocks for the Cardinals.
"Yang Yang is definitely a go-to hitter," Kelly said. "She adds a lot of spark to our team."
Pancho contributed 37 assists, while Mariah Smith tallied 12 kills and 12 digs.
"We still have a long ways to go," Kelly said, despite her team's 3-1 record in the tournament. "Our conference is going to be strong."
The Cardinals open Scenic West Athletic Conference play Friday at Salt Lake Community College.
