COEUR d'ALENE - Aubree Mercier, a freshman from Post Falls High, scored five consecutive goals in a 21-minute span of the second half - the first three coming in a four-minute span - as North Idaho College routed the University of Idaho club team 12-1 on Sunday at Eisenwinter Field.

"Aubree had a great finishing game," NIC coach Dan Hogan said. "She kind of got on a roll there, and wanted to score more."

NIC (7-0) needs just one more victory to qualify for the District B championships Nov. 4-5 in Kansas.

NIC's women (and men) travel to Rock Springs, Wyo., this weekend to play Western Wyoming on Friday and Western Nebraska on Sunday.

COEUR d'ALENE - Matt Lieggi scored on his old Lake City High teammate, Scott Fraser, as the Cardinals defeated the University of Idaho club team at Eisenwinter Field.

Lieggi took a pass from Michael Leptich to the left of the goal and drove a left-footed shot into the lower right corner of the goal from 18 yards out.

"We were much more patient on the attack end and defensively," NIC coach Ken Thompson said. "Our backs were much simpler in their decision making. We looked for seams to go for instead of just knocking it over the top."

Leptich and Chad Ward each had a goal and an assist for NIC (3-2-1), and Justin Johnson had four saves in posting the shutout in goal.
