Christine E. Francis, 93
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 14 years, 3 months AGO
Christine E. Francis, 93, of Post Falls, passed away Sept. 17, 2011. Christine "Tina" was born on Sept. 9, 1918, in Roberts to Carey and Emma Carskadon. Tina met her husband, W.M. "Dub" Francis in Dinuba, Calif., and they were married in 1935.
She is survived by a son, Bill Francis of Post Falls, and many grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dub Francis; grandson Richard; daughter Rebecca Mayle and son Carey Francis.
Christine and Dub spent many of their year's together living in Texas and California. Dub passed away in 1975 and in 1977 Tina moved to Post Falls to live near her sons.
She was one of the "Original" Rosie the Riveters when papa went to serve in Italy during World War II, and later a seamstress in the Los Angeles garment district.
Nan guided us all with love, honesty, hugs, kisses and the occasional "Stern advice" conversations. She taught us to be firm in our beliefs knowing in the end; it is love that grants devotion. She was one of the strongest and toughest yet kind and loving persons one will ever know. She was wise and knowledgeable and taught us much about hard work ethics and understanding.
We do not recall a time in which she said a bad word about anyone. She loved her family and the joy they all brought her. Her second love was the Mariners and Dodgers. She never complained about life's hardships and endured and accepted the hurdles of life as they presented themselves.
Heaven definitely has gained another Angel while Earth has lost a very good person. We will all miss her dearly but she will continue to live on in each and every one of our hearts and by remembering the ideals that she has taught us and passing them on to our children. We shall celebrate and always cherish you Nan. THANK YOU GOD for letting us be a part of her life.
A memorial will be held at noon Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011, at Kiwanis Park, 4176 E. Weatherby Ave., Post Falls.
