Green takes first in miniature bull riding

Twelve-year-old Wyatt Green, of Columbia Falls, took first place in the Montana Miniature Bull Riding Finals held Sept. 10 in Ronan.

Green scored 65 points in the first round riding a bull named Tracker, leaving him in eighth place. He earned 76 points in the final round riding a bull named 21X. He took home $460, two buckles and a first-place trophy.

Green now sits in fourth place in the year-end standings, earning a spot on the Montana Team for the Northwest Miniature Bull Riding Finals to be held in Helena in November. The top-10 cowboys ages 9-14 from Montana, Idaho, Utah and Wyoming qualify for the Helena finals.

Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
