Meehan helps Post Falls notch sweep at Sandpoint

SANDPOINT - Allison Meehan had nine kills and 16 assists as the Post Falls Trojans defeated the Sandpoint Bulldogs 25-14, 25-21, 25-12 in a nonleague match at Les Rogers Court on Tuesday night.
"Everything was smooth tonight," Post Falls coach Willow Hanna said. "Our transition game was really good and we passed the ball really well tonight."
Ashley Jibby had 13 digs and eight kills, Danielle Failor had seven kills and five blocks and Tori Bertsch had 17 assists and Natalie Sarff six blocks for Post Falls (13-4), which hosts Lewiston in a 5A Inland Empire League match on Thursday.
"Post Falls served so hard at us we couldn't even attempt an offense," Sandpoint coach Karen Alsager said. "We made a commitment after Lewiston to make a vocal difference. Tonight our energy was better, our vocalness was better."
Mackenzie Jones had 11 digs and nine assists, Hannah Neuman five kills and Megan Rockwell four kills and two aces to lead Sandpoint (6-6), which travels to Lewiston on Saturday.

SPOKANE - Kaitlyn Whitesitt had 11 kills for the visiting Hawks, who won the first game before faltering in a 28-30, 25-18, 25-19, 25-21 loss to the Eagles in a nonleague match.
"We got off to a good start, and once we started to make a few mental mistakes we just crumbled," Lakeland coach Kylie Garitone said.
Sonora Wilkes had 15 assists and three aces, and Jean Van Slate had seven kills for Lakeland (3-11).

PLUMMER - Maria Garcia had five kills and 24 digs as the host Knights defeated the Panthers 25-10, 19-25, 27-25, 25-14 in a nonleague match.
"It was a nicely played match," Lakeside coach Jan Mitchell said. "We kind of let up in the second game, but we came back and finished well."
Ruth Haynes had eight blocks, Michelle Whaley 13 assists and Francine Hendrickx six aces for Lakeside (7-5), which hosts Kootenai on Thursday.
Emily Verhaeghe had nine aces and 12 assists, Alisa Ricciardi 16 digs and Lexi Young nine kills for Coeur d'Alene Charter (3-10), which travels to Wallace on Thursday.

HARRISON FLATS - Brie Benson had 17 kills and Rachel McHail had 12 kills and four blocks as the host Warriors defeated the Tigers 25-19, 20-25, 25-20, 20-25, 16-14 in a North Star League match.
"It was a really exciting match and there were a lot of great volleys by both teams," Kootenai coach Jessica Hammond said. "I was really proud of Brie for stepping up tonight and hitting the ball hard."
Ellison Schultz had 19 assists and two aces and Olivia Kincheloe had 26 assists for Kootenai (2-7, 1-3 NSL), which travels to Lakeside on Thursday.
Kami McKinnon had six kills, three blocks, Sydni Kotschevar had nine assists and Morgan Koenig had four kills for Mullan (4-4, 0-4), which travels to Coeur d'Alene Charter on Tuesday.

"Timmy had quite a day today," Post Falls coach Gabe Lawson said. "He's been pretty consistent, but hasn't had a game with multiple goals this season. He was getting great balls from Matt Howard and Kobi (Nuss)."
Cole Jesienouski scored in the 11th minute for Post Falls (8-0-1), which travels to Coeur d'Alene on Thursday.

Freshman Cade Coffey had seven saves for Lakeland (6-4-2), which hosts Moscow on Thursday at the Rathdrum Rotary Soccer Complex.
"We came out really good, but got a little tired," Lakeland coach Nick Haynes said. "St. George's is a good team. Cade Coffey was our MVP today. He stopped a PK, breakaway and a free kick. He's only a freshman, but is playing really, really well."

LEWISTON - Jessica Waller scored on a corner kick in the 74th minute as the Trojans battled back to tie the Bengals in a 5A Inland Empire League match at Walker Field.
"It was a real keeper contest," Post Falls coach Briggs Anderson said. "Both made huge saves. We were real slow getting off the bus and took us a while to get going. We held them off as far as we could, but we're kind of happy with the tie at this point."
Sam Runkle had five saves for Post Falls (5-4-2, 1-1-2 5A IEL), which hosts Ferris on Saturday.
Emily Moscrip had 12 saves for Lewiston (5-2-2, 1-1-1), which hosts Lake City on Thursday.

"We've been messing around with our formations and had a new one in place tonight, so I was happy with the outcome," Timberlake coach Steve Michael said. "The girls played better ball today than they have been playing, so it was a good win."
