Menicke takes first at Two Bear Marathon

Richard Menicke, of Whitefish, the Columbia Falls High School cross-country coach, took first place in the fourth annual Two Bear Half Marathon on Sept. 11. A total of 124 women and 67 men finished the half marathon race in Whitefish.

Two Missoula runners, Christopher Kollar and Kristina Pattison, took first place for men and women in the full marathon, 26 miles and 385 yards long, in 2:43:13.1 and 3:32:26.6 respectively.

The following Columbia Falls area runners finished the two events:

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
