Douglas Albert Nilson, 82

Douglas Albert Nilson was born in Louisville, Ky., Aug. 18, 1929. He passed away peacefully at the Garden Plaza in Post Falls on Sept. 21, 2011.

Doug grew up in Louisville until he joined the Air Force in 1947. He fought in the Korean War and later was stationed in Tucson, Ariz., where he met his wife, Barbara. They married April 11, 1951. They had five children.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two sons, Ron Nilson and Gary Nilson; and daughter Susie Mercer. He has 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Doug worked for Boeing Aircraft Company and was a manager for their Labor Relations Department. He retired after 37 years. His favorite things were playing poker, golf and fishing. He loved his weekends at his cabin and winters in the sun of Tucson.
