COEUR d'ALENE - The third Birthday Party for Mudgy and Millie will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Community Room at the Coeur d'Alene Public Library.

"Mudgy & Millie" author Susan Nipp and sculptor Terry Lee will be there to sign copies of the book. The celebration will also feature a group reading and singing, an appearance by Mudgy and Millie, photo opportunities, and, of course, birthday cake.

Kids who already have a copy of the book can get a special birthday stamp. Copies of the book as well as "Mudgy & Millie" plush toys are available to buy. Proceeds benefit the library.

Nipp, who is also known for her work on the Wee Sing books and music series, created "Mudgy & Millie" along with illustrator Charles Reasoner. The book tells the story of a moose and mouse playing hide and seek among the landmarks of Coeur d'Alene. Royalties for the book have been assigned to the Coeur d'Alene Public Library Foundation.

In cooperation with the city of Coeur d'Alene Arts Commission and the Parks Department, the Mudgy Trail was also created. The trail features the five lifesize bronze statues created for the project by Lee.

The first Mudgy & Millie Day was celebrated on Sept. 13, 2008.
