Terry P. Kiefer, 57

Terry (nephew of Lakeland Coach Terry A. Kiefer) is the son of Bill and Betty Kiefer of Rathdrum. He passed away Aug. 18, 2011, after a four-month battle with cancer.

He graduated from Lakeland High School in 1972 and was a multi-sport athlete in football, basketball, track and baseball. He went on to play basketball and track/field at North Idaho College. He finished his college career at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore., playing football and track/field while earning an education degree.

He taught for 33 years in the Banks Oregon School District, most of it as the elementary P.E. Teacher. His commitment to being a positive influence helped shape many young lives. He was devoted to his family and church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Kiefer.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Mary; his five children, Katelynn, Nichole, Christopher, Elizabeth and Joseph; his granddaughter, Annabelle; his father, Bill Kiefer; his four siblings, Doreen Edwards, Mark Kiefer, Bret Kiefer, Jeri McDevitt and numerous relatives.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Parish Hall, 15169 McCartney St., Rathdrum. The Parish Hall is located behind the Catholic church. Please come and share food, stories and memories of Terry.
