Eastwood receives Dr. Leon Green Fellowship Award
The Idaho Recreation and Parks Association awarded Coeur d'Alene Parks Director Doug Eastwood the Dr. Leon Green Fellowship Award - the highest honor given by the association - at an awards ceremony held Sept. 20 in Boise.
The Dr. Leon Green Fellowship Award recognizes outstanding contributions made to the parks and recreation profession.
"What Doug has done to expand and enhance the city's parklands for the enjoyment of the residents of the city of Coeur d'Alene is remarkable," said Mayor Sandi Bloem.
Eastwood has spent this past year serving as the president elect of the IRPA, and will now serve as president of the association for two years. He will serve a final one-year term as past president.

Sweeney receives CRS Chapter Realtor of the Year Award
Cindy Sweeney of Lakeshore Realty received the Idaho CRS Chapter Realtor of the Year Award.
The Certified Residential Specialist designation is held by only 4 percent of Realtors nationwide. It requires significant advanced real estate studies and sales achievement.
Sweeney has also earned the designations of Accredited Buyers' Representative, Graduate, Realtors Institute and the Associate Brokers license. She will serve as the 2012 CRS Idaho Chapter President.
She has been involved in local real estate sales since 1993.
Sayer tapped to lead Idaho Department of Commerce
Jeff Sayer - an eastern Idaho businessman with extensive experience in private-sector financing, strategy and leadership - has been appointed the new director of the Idaho Department of Commerce.
He will begin work Oct. 3. He succeeds Don Dietrich, who resigned in August. David Fulkerson, deputy administrator and state financial officer at the Division of Financial Management, is serving as interim director.
"I am eager to reach out to every corner of our state and tap into the great ideas and incredible talent we have here," he said. "I'm passionate about the possibilities and excited to be part of a team that can help Idaho continue toward that great potential."
