Cats suffer two blowout losses

The Columbia Falls boys soccer team had a rough week, losing two games in blowout fashion.
On Sept. 24, the Polson Pirates blanked the Wildcats 8-0 at home. Polson moved the ball well and broke down the Cats' defense early and often. The one bright spot in the game was the defensive play of Austin Martin, who is playing varsity soccer for the first time this year and has improved nicely.
Still, it wasn't enough to stop the Pirates, who out shot the Cats 21-2. Keeper Mason Gedlaman also made some nice saves or the score would have been worse.
On Sept. 20, the boys were blanked by Stillwater Christian 6-0. Stillwater scored early and often and out shot the Cats 15-5 in a nonconference match.
Stillwater's Josh Bray scored four minutes into the game and then again at the 21-minute mark to go up 2-0 at the half. Bray added another goal one minute into the second half.
The Wildcats are now 1-3-1 in league play and 1-7-1 overall. They travel to Polson on Thursday and then to Libby on Saturday for two conference matches.
