Parker Johnson carded a 77 five-over-par to take third place in the Northwest A Divisional golf tournament in Polson on Sept. 22. Fellow senior Brian Marcille's 97 earned him a trip to state as the 15th-place finisher. The top-15 places get a state tournament berth.

Freshman Wildcat Henry Chisholm finished his rookie season with a 104. Seniors Coby Hutchens and Markie Reiten fired a 116 and 140 respectively. As a team, the Wildcats team finished in fifth place at 394.

Whitefish's Arthur Doorn took top honors, shooting a 73. Whitefish took team honors followed by Frenchtown and Libby.

On the girls side, juniors McKenna Emmerich (108), Maggie Panasuk (116) and Morgan Love (118) punched their tickets to state by finishing 11th, 12th and 13th respectively. Sophomore Britney Cotton finished at 145.

The Wildkats finished in fourth place with 504, while the Polson Lady Pirates finished 1st at 354.

Coach Gene Marcille said he was pleased with the teams' efforts.

"We play in what's probably the strongest golf conference in Montana, so qualifying for the state tournament is tough to do," he said. "I'm really proud of our three M's and my son, and what can I say about Parker besides the fact he's a great athlete, a great student and a great kid."
