Bigfork downs Troy; Davey leads Polson past Whitefish, 53-32

BIGFORK - Cody Dopps ran for 138 yards and two touchdowns as seventh-ranked Bigfork defeated Troy 41-6 in a District 7B football contest on Friday night.

The homecoming win pushes Bigfork's records to 2-0 in league and 4-1 overall.

The Vikings have won four straight.

"Our defense just shut Troy down," Bigfork coach Todd Emslie said.

"They had 117 yards total offense. Our defense was awesome."

Dopps, who had 18 carries on the night, scored on runs of 4 and 2 yards.

Colter Mahlum, 6 of 12 passing for 108 yards and no interceptions, threw a pair of TD passes. He hit Connor Coleman on a 10 yarder and Chris Landon on a 50 yarder.

Austin Jordt and Ian Lorang had the other TD runs for Bigfork.

Bigfork plays at Thompson Falls on Friday.

FRENCHTOWN - Josh Foote returned the opening kickoff 84 yards for a touchdown as Libby defeated Frenchtown in Northwestern A play.

Libby scored in every quarter but the fourth in moving to 4-2 overall and 2-0 league.

Patrick Valentine kicked a 23-yard field goal and Micah Germany hit Bryce Gustin on a 10-yard TD pass to give the Loggers a 16-0 edge at the half.

Chase Hoyer had a 6-yard touchdown run for the Loggers in the third period.

Libby hosts Havre on Friday.

Columbia Falls 14

LIVINGSTON - Livingston did all of its scoring in the first half and then held on to thwart a fourth quarter rally by Columbia Falls for the Class A nonconference victory.

Livingston led 19-0 at the half, thanks to a pair of long touchdown passes by Landon Willyerd and his 1-yard touchdown run.

Columbia Falls, 2-3 overall, scored in the final stanza on a 3-yard run by Brendan Windauer and a 30-yard pass from Austin Barth to Colin King.

Columbia Falls, 1-1 league, hosts Whitefish on Friday.

WHITEFISH - Undefeated and fifth-ranked Polson outscored Whitefish in a wild Northwestern A homecoming contest.

Will Davey, filling in for the injured Vince DiGiallonardo, threw a pair of touchdown passes and ran for three touchdowns, 16, 1 and 18 yards.

He hit Ian Laimbeer on TD strikes of 36 and 60 yards.

"We moved the ball like we wanted to," Whitefish coach Chad Ross said.

"Polson was more physical up front, especially in the second half."

Whitefish passed for 387 yards. Chris Forrest was 10 for 17 for 107 yards and one touchdown and Connor Donahue was 15 for 34 for 280 yards and three touchdowns.

Gage Vasquez had seven receptions for 123 yards and Logan Harwood had six catches for 124 yards for Whitefish.

Whitefish, 2-3 and 0-2, plays at Columbia Falls on Friday while Polson, 5-0 and 2-0, hosts Frenchtown.

EUREKA - Zach Newbary threw five touchdown passes to power Florence to a high-scoring nonconference Class B football victory over Eureka.

Eureka scored first, on a 61-yard pass from Ryan Holder to Bryton Guckenberg. But it was all Florence after that.

"We moved the ball well, we just couldn't stop their passing game," Eureka coach Ed Newell said.

Eureka, 3-2 overall, travels to Plains on Friday for a 7B outing.
