NIC men, CCS play to soccer tie

COEUR d'ALENE - Forward Matt Leptich scored off a crossing pass from Chad Ward in the fifth minute for North Idaho College, but a late goal by Community Colleges of Spokane's Zach Allert in the 86th minute resulted in a 1-1 draw in nonconference men's soccer Thursday at Eisenwinter Field.
"Our guys played tough," NIC coach Ken Thompson said. "Defensively, we stayed organized and in the same shape we've been coaching all season. We didn't give up too many dangerous opportunities and got back to make Spokane's job harder and were pretty composed with the ball around the back line."
NIC (3-4-2) hosts Western Wyoming on Oct. 7.
