A Spokane bomb squad was called Saturday to a Hayden business to dispose of found explosives, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office.

At noon, Robert Funke, of Funke Brothers Logging, found two boxes full of blasting caps in a cabinet in a bathroom of the business, the sheriff's department said in a press release.

The business is located at 10217 N. Government Way.

Funke, who has owned the building for approximately 13 years, did not know where the blasting caps came from or how long they had been there.

A deputy from the sheriff's department Explosive Recognition Team initially responded and confirmed that they were in fact blasting caps and coordinated with the bomb squad to dispose of the blasting caps.

Due to the inert nature of the blasting caps no evacuations were needed and public was not at risk, the sheriff's department said.
