WARDEN - Isabelle Wilkinson won the 2012 Miss Warden Pageant Saturday night.
Five girls competed for the award after a month of rehearsing and preparing. The competition was divided into three portions. The girls were interviewed by judges prior to the performance, and displayed a talent and finished with poise, gown and answering a question.
Kayla Kight, the event's organizer, was happy with the event, saying the event is aimed at helping promote the city. Runners-up Andrea Contreras and Kimberly Vela will join Wilkinson as they ride in various parades throughout the state.
"It was a lovely performance by all," she said. "This year we wanted to do something more elegant."
Wilkinson plays volleyball and softball, and is a FFA member, according to her biographical information. The high school student enjoys playing the piano and baking.
"She lives on her family's farm, and enjoys the small town life," said Mayor Tony Massa, the master of ceremonies for the event. "She has been on the honor roll throughout middle school and high school. After graduation, she plans on going to Washington State University and furthering her education."
Wilkinson performed on the piano for her talent competition. For the gown, poise and interview portion, Massa asked where in Warden she would show someone.
"I would show you our schools and I would take you to the country and show you all the cool things there are," she told the crowd sitting in the Warden Elementary School gym.
Wilkinson, Contreras and Vela said they were excited about getting to represent the city. The three girls applied to join the contest. Wilkinson wanted to do it because her mom did it, and she thought it would be fun.
"It was very fun. I had all my friends and my parents to support me," she said.
