Othello softball takes two from Grandview

GRANDVIEW - Alyssa Martinez belted two home runs and Daisy Salgado pounded out five hits as Othello cruised to two five-inning road wins against the Greyhounds Saturday.

The victories improve Othello to 5-0 in the Central Washington Athletic Conference (CWAC) and 6-1 overall.

Game one

The Huskies jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the teams first at bat.  Grandview got a run back in the bottom of the first. It was the Greyhounds only score in the game. Othello put two runs on the board in the second and another two in the third to win with ease, 11-1. The Huskies out hit Grandview 9-4. The Greyhounds had trouble fielding the ball and committed four errors in the game.

Salgado led the offensive attack for Othello, going 3-for-4 at the plate with a double. Alyssa Martinez added two hits in three at bats with a home run for the Huskies. Morgan Logan got the win for Othello.

The second game of the twin bill saw Othello score 14 off 15 hits as the Huskies shutout the Greyhounds. Martinez came up big again for the Huskies in game two, with two hits in three plate appearances and a home run.

Kim Bullis, who was also the winning pitcher of record, had four hits in four at bats. Kylee Harper was 2-for-3 with two doubles, and Salgado was 2-for-4 at the plate.

Othello is back on the diamond for doubleheader action when they host Ephrata April 7 at 11 a.m.
