New Hot Springs Clinic construction set to begin

HOT SPRINGS – The construction of the new Hot Springs Clinic is anticipated to begin at the end of this month.
After months of fundraising, which is technically still on-going, the Hot Springs Clinic Fund is within just $11,500 of the goal amount to fund the construction of the clinic debt-free.
“The estimated cost of the project is $813,000,” clinic fundraising committee chair Sharon Flesch said. “We really want to get the rest of that without incurring any debt from the community.”
They are still gathering material for their Tired Iron project, and are trying to think of ways to further fundraise so that they “can get into the building debt-free.”
Back in December, the fundraising committee had a daunting $300K to raise; by January, a little over $123K left to raise; last month, $30K and now just $11,500 left to raise to break even. Though the funding was deemed “in place” due to the generous offer by Sanders County Community Development Corporation to match any remaining funds last month and a contract for construction has been materialized, Flesch and her crew still look to work hard to get those last remaining dollars.
Flesch is enthusiastic about this final stretch and is excited to see the destruction of the old clinic as well as the ground-breaking of the new clinic.

Local blood saves lives
Mark Sheets of Thompson Falls knows how donated blood saves lives. At age 16, a roof collapsed on top of him and among his many injuries, his femoral artery was severed. He would have died if not for receiving up to 5 pints of donated, matching blood following the accident. Sheets has been donating his own blood to American Red Cross ever since.
