KENNEWICK, Wash. - An apparent tying goal by Spokane's Corbin Baldwin wasn't scored soon enough as the Tri-City Americans held on to defeat the Chiefs 2-1, evening their Western Hockey League Western Conference semifinal series at one game apiece Saturday night in front of 4,368 at the Toyota Center.

Game 3 is in Spokane on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.

Spokane appeared to have tied the game on Baldwin's shot from the left circle, but the puck crossed the line less than a second after the clock had hit zero. A video review confirmed the shot crossed four frames late.

Tri-City took a 1-0 lead late in the first period on a goal by Adam Hughesman.

After a scoreless second, Tri-City extended the advantage on a Justin Feser goal early in the third period.

Mitch Holmberg scored his eighth goal of the postseason from the left circle as the Chiefs used a 6-on-4 power-play advantage to pull within a goal late in the third.

Eric Williams had 31 saves for Spokane, which had won its previous five playoff games.
