MOSES LAKE - The Vikings put a much needed W in the win column and ended a three game losing streak with a  7-1 victory over Blue Mountain Saturday.

The win came in the first game of a twin bill to improve BBCC's record to 4-3 in NWAACC conference play and 15-3 overall.

But the one game winning streak was just that as the Vikings (4-4, 15-4) dropped the nightcap 5-3.

Game one of the twin bill was scoreless through seven and a half innings.

BBCC broke the game wide open with five runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 5-0 lead.

Matt Benner got things going for the Vikings with a leadoff single and advanced to second on a Levi Lively one bagger.

Johnny Navarro reached first, and Benner raced home on a third strike throwing error by the  Blue Mountain catcher to put BBCC up 1-0.

Kailen Bickler doubled in Lively and Navarro to increase the lead to 3-0. Connor Hamilton singled to move Bickler to third. Hamilton stole second Matt Nouola singled to bring in Bickler and move Hamilton to third on the play. Ricco Moreno grounded into a fielders choice, but picked up an RBI when Hamilton scored the fifth run of the inning.

Blue Mountain got its only run in the top of the eight. The Vikings tacked on two more runs in their half of the inning to win going away, 7-1.

Cody Vandever got the win for BBCC, going seven and a third innings of three-hit ball, while striking out three batters and walking two. Syd Hall pitched an inning and two thirds of relief.

Eric Christiansen took the loss for Blue Mountain.

Blue Mountain 5

BBCC 3

The second game of the twin bill saw all eight runs scored in the first three and a half innings.

Blue Mountain jumped out to a 3-0 lead after an inning and a half, but BBCC bounced back with two runs in the bottom of the second to close the gap 3-2.

The Vikings tied the game 3-3 with a run in the bottom of the fourth, much to the delight of the sparse home crowd.

Blue Mountain got two runs back in the top of the fourth to push the score to 5-3. Unfortunately, the home team didn't have an answer as the Vikings were shut out the rest of the way and dropped the game.

Jakob Daniels was tagged with the loss for BBCC.

The Vikings are back in action Wednesday when the team travels to Yakima Valley Community College for doubleheader action.
