Motorcycle ride is Saturday
A motorcycle ride to kick off the spring season is set for Saturday.
The Idaho STAR Motorcycle Safety Program will be at Coeur d'Alene Powersports Honda KTM parking lot, 2745 E Seltice Way, from 11 a.m. to 1.
The "Spring Opener" is intended to reach riders with information to prevent crashes.
It will include riding demonstrations, handouts, giveaways, and information about the factors involved in Idaho's motorcycle crashes. The focus will be on what riders can do to avoid those crashes.
Idaho STAR has courses for all levels of riders and will be demonstrating some of the more advanced riding skills and techniques at the spring opener. Info: www.idahostar.org
Help needed to split, deliver wood
If you like cutting, splitting and delivering firewood, John Corcoran wants to hear from you.
ElderHelp of North Idaho recently received a pledge from two residents at the end of Ranch Court in Rathdrum to donate 20 cords of wood to the nonprofit dedicated to assisting seniors.
John Corcoran, ElderHelp spokesman, said about 30 people are needed to tackle the project on Saturday, April 28.
"If we have 40 people, we can probably get it done in half a day," he said.
They plan to cut, split and deliver the firewood. About two cords goes to each home.
Anyone with splitting mauls, chain saws, trucks and strong backs is welcome. Children, supervised by parents, can also help.
Since 2005, ElderHelp has delivered around 1,500 cords of firewood to seniors, all done through volunteers.
