WAPATO - Quincy hit the road Saturday looking to extend its two game winning streak as the team took on Wapato in twin bill action.

But the Jacks dropped the first game of the doubleheader 8-1. Quincy rebounded with a 12-6 win over the Wolves in game two to improve its record to 3-1 in CWAC competition and 3-7 overall.

The Jacks got on the board first with a run in the top of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. The Wolves were held off the board in their half of the inning, but scored twice in the bottom of the second to go up 2-1. That was all the runs Wapato needed as Quincy went scoreless the rest of the way. The Wolves, however, put three more on the scoreboard in the third, and one each in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to win with ease, 8-1.

Wapato out hit the Jacks 10 to 8, but the real undoing for Quincy were the 11 runners stranded on base. Diego Garcia was tagged with the loss for the Jacks.

Game two of the doubleheader was more of what coach Matt Trait had envisioned when his Jacks took the field, as Quincy scored 12 runs off 14 hits to earn the split.

The margin of victory could've been much wider as the Jacks left 14 runners on base in the contest.

Quincy got thins going early with four runs in the top of the first inning. Wapato responded with two runs in the teams first at bat to close the gap to 4-2.

The Jacks broke the game open after scoring eight runs to the Wolves two over the next four innings to go up 12-4. Wapato got a run back in the sixth and seventh innings, but it was too little to late as Quincy rolled to a 12-6 victory.

Chad Omilin was the big stick for Quincy going 3-for-4 at the plate with three singles and 3 RBI. Ryan Massey had three hits in four at bats with three singles and an RBI, and Kody Berens was 2-for-3 with three runs scored.

Jason Garrison went six innings on the mound for the win, giving up three hits and fanning nine Wolves. Omilin was credited with the save.

The Jack are back on the diamond Thursday when they travel to Grandview.
