WINCHESTER – Grant County Sheriff’s Deputies spent Thursday, March 29, sorting through suspected stolen property after serving a search warrant where an allegedly illegal scrap yard was found near Quincy.

Deputies also sorted through alleged drug crimes and several persons who were arrested. More arrests may be coming.

According to Sheriff Tom Jones, deputies served a search warrant at 10756 State Route 28 West in the community of Winchester. The warrant was based on an investigation into an illegal scrap yard at that location.

Deputies found five persons living on the property, either in the house or in travel trailers on site. Throughout the property, deputies discovered large quantities of metal which appear to have been cut apart for scrap.

Deputies also found countless pieces of suspected stolen property, including tools, welders, and other items. Inside the home, deputies discovered a small marijuana growing operation of 12 plants each standing about three feet tall.

Deputies applied for and received additional search warrants for the stolen property and the marijuana growing operation.

Arrested and lodged in the Grant County Jail were:

  • April Triplet, age 32 of Quincy, on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Mario A. Gutierrez, age 30 of Ephrata, on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Charlene Leivan, age 54 of Quincy, on suspicion of manufacturing marijuana and possession of stolen property.
  • Ryan Leivan, age 22 of Quincy, on suspicion of manufacturing marijuana and possession of stolen property.
  • Corina Garcia, age 40 of Quincy, on suspicion of manufacturing marijuana possession of stolen property and possession of a legend drug (Vicodin).

More arrests and charges are likely as this investigation continues, Jones said.
