Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Luna will be in Coeur d’Alene on Monday to announce that the Coeur d’Alene School District is one of 15 districts and public charter schools statewide to receive a classroom technology grant to help build 21st Century classrooms as part of Students Come First.

Coeur d’Alene School District is set to receive $250,000 to serve as a pilot district for the state’s instructional management system, which gives classroom teachers instant access to current, accurate data and tools to develop lesson plans, share best practices, and assess and analyze student progress throughout the school year.

In addition to Coeur d’Alene, three other districts in North Idaho also will receive grants. Lakeland School District was awarded a $150,000 grant, Boundary County School District was awarded a $100,000 grant, and Lake Pend Oreille School District will receive a $150,000 grant.

These technology grants are funded through a donation from the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Foundation, which provided $21 million in 2011 to help create the 21st century classroom in every Idaho school.
