SPOKANE - Dominik Uher scored the game-winner on a backhanded shot 6:28 into overtime as the Spokane Chiefs defeated the Tri-City Americans 3-2 to even their Western Hockey League Western Conference semifinal series at 2 games apiece Friday night in front of 7,520 at the Spokane Arena.

It was the 13th time in the last 19 playoff games between the two clubs that has gone to overtime.

Spokane opened the scoring in the first period on Collin Valcourt's first goal of the playoffs 3:42 into the game. Mitch Holmberg scored his ninth of the playoffs on the Chiefs' only power play in the period to make it 2-0 midway through the period.

Tri-City tied the game with two goals in the second on Derek Ryckman's first goal of the playoffs and a power-play goal by Adam Hughesman.

Spokane had a chance to take the lead in the final three minutes, but Dylan Walchuk's breakaway hit the post.

In overtime, Uher took the puck from the neutral zone and fired a shot past the glove of Tri-City goaltender Ty Rimmer to give the Chiefs the win.

Eric Williams had 33 saves in his sixth playoff win for Spokane.

Game 5 is tonight at 7 in Kennewick, Wash.
