Moses Lake auto shop expands

MOSES LAKE - Brent Leishman is moving back into the building where he built his business.
Leishman spent more than 20 years fixing vehicles, and was renting his original building at 2239 W Broadway Ave. to another set of mechanics. He was running his general repair shop on West Main Street.
As part of the move he is changing the name of the business to Brent's Automatic Transmission Service.
When the lease ran out, he decided to move back into the Broadway Avenue building and return to fixing transmissions, he said.
"Right now we're doing a total remodel inside," he said. "(We're) repainting all the floors ... We got to paint all this ... Then we can start going to work."
Leishman and his four employees are already working in the shop, he said. He plans to keep the other building open and work on transmissions in both buildings.
"We're going to go into suspension and exhaust, major drive train stuff," he said.
Leishman specializes in transmissions, he said. While he has been doing general repairs in the Main Street shop, he spent most of his career working with transmissions. He started when he was 23 and is now 55.
"We're planning on having 100 to 150 transmissions in stock," he said. "(It will) get the work out faster. You stock the common stuff like Suburbans. Then we do all upgrade programs on them too, so we upgrade all the transmissions."
The upgrades fix problems from the factory, Leishman said.
Inside the shop, Brent Radach was rebuilding a 4L60 transmission for Chevy Suburban transmission. He's worked for Leishman for 15 years.
"Three of four clutches were burned up, second ban was burned up," Radach said.
The shop can be reached at 509-765-7333.
