COEUR d'ALENE - Luke Ness (No. 1 singles), Matt Finney (No. 2 singles) and Nathan Freeman/Seth Helbling (No. 2 doubles) of Lake City, as well as Cailtin McHugh (No. 1 singles) and the doubles teams of Lexi Carlsen/Sonja Jacobson (No. 1) and Courtney Gunnerson/Danyelle Keese (No. 2) from Coeur d'Alene were among bracket winners during the inaugural Lake City High Invitational on Saturday.

Sandpoint had a strong showing, with Drew and Micah Buckmiller winning a tight final over Lake City to win the No. 1 doubles, and Kennedy Search cruising to a straight set win to claim the No. 2 girls singles championship. Nicolette Jessen and Bailey Scrimsher finished second at No. 2 girls doubles to round out the Bulldogs in the main draw.

The Bulldogs also claimed five consolation championships, with Kevin Kirby and Kane Wijngaarden winning consolation titles at No. 1 and No. 2 boys singles, respectively, Michele Rockwell winning at No. 1 singles, Megan Rockwell and Courtney Windju at No. 1 girls doubles and Alex Hon and Talbot Callister at No. 2 boys doubles.

The eight-team tourney also included teams from Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls, Lakeland, Medical Lake, Shadle Park and North Central.

Sandpoint is at Lake City on Tuesday.

Grantham wins twice at tourney

LEWISTON - Mindi Grantham won both girls singles matches for Coeur d'Alene Charter during a five-team Central Idaho League tournament at Lewiston High.

The tournament was to determine seeding for the upcoming District 1-2 tournament at the University of Idaho on May 11-12.
